Hard Lines Coffee - Ethiopia - Sawana Kebele
We’re big fans of Hard Lines in Cardiff, and wanted to bring a little piece of that action to Stockport. We use their beans in the shop machine and you can take home your own bags now too!
250g bags in either whole bean or ground.
Farm: Sawana Kebele
Elevation: 2,000 - 2,150 masl
Tasting Notes: Watermelon Bubble Gum!
Guji coffee was until the beginning of the century bundled together with Sidamo and Yirgacheffe coffee. This was not paying tribute to a coffee region with so many regional landraces. Guji offers a very diverse landscape with altitude and vegetation variation which create as many microclimates.
Coffee cultivation in Guji is a relatively new phenomenon compared to other regions of Ethiopia. The young coffee plants grow in mineral-rich volcanic soils, a conducive environment for Arabica coffee strains.
The Sawana Lot is produced from farmers of Sawana Kebele, all woring with the Dambi Udo farm to process their cherries. Familiy-owned, the farm does not only process cherries from neigbourhood farmers, but also process its own. Very involved in their community, they offer training to the surounding coffee farmers, participate in building school, renovating road infrastructure or bringing water to the remote villages.
