Hard Lines Coffee Beans - Burundi
We’re big fans of Hard Lines in Cardiff, and wanted to bring a little piece of that action to Stockport. We use their espresso beans in our Gaggia espresso machine, and you can take home some too.
Burundi - Businde - Whole Beans
Producer Partner: MatraCo
Altitude: 1650 - 1800 MASL
Tasting Notes: Strawberry and Cream
"For those of you that enjoyed our previous natural Burundi, we have another absolute taste sensation, with flavours that remind us of a quintessential British summer – Strawberries and cream. From Burundi’s Kayanza region in the north, famous for producing intensely fruity sweet coffees, this coffee is no exception. The flavour of this fantastic coffee is not all that is good about it though, with producers working with the Businde washing station earning a 20% bonus for this years crop due to it’s incredible quality, and washing station workers earning 60% above local market rate also. These financial bonuses act as great incentives for producers to continue to produce great quality coffee in future years, where even bigger bonuses will be paid for even better quality coffee. There is still a huge mountain to climb with regards to producers pay, quality of life and prospects, but commitments like those Raw Material (the green coffee importer we got this coffee from) are making will help sow the seed of the changes that need to be made.
We sincerely hope you enjoy this coffee, for it’s summery characteristics and it’s potential for improving the livelihood of farmers."
