Heath and Mud is a zine that has the Peak District at its heart, with pathways that will meander and lead us to explore broader themes of what it means for us to spend time outside. We’ll explore and share stories, folklore, walking routes, images, artwork, and insights into connecting with our landscapes. It’s a collaborative body, that will grow with the voices it houses. Consistent themes of inclusivity, empowerment and connection will keep us true to our route, and at our core will be values of respect and of championing each other and our beautiful environments.
Issue #2 of Heath and Mud takes us further into exploring the enigmatic Dark Peak - with a focus on the iconic and rugged Kinder Scout.
We’ll travel over moorland and across gritstone, dodge peat bogs and streams, as we traverse the heath. We’ll visit a waterfall that appears to flow backwards, and a pool that’s haunted by a mermaid. We’ll follow in the footsteps of the Mass Trespass, and hunt for strange, carved stones on the top of the plateau.
Featuring artwork, stories, walking routes and lore; Issue #2 is a collaborative effort housing multiple voices, echoing through the cloughs of the mighty Kinder Scout.
