In the port city of Antwerp, old tram-lines wind through cobbled streets, and the gentle lean of the city’s many well-preserved Baroque buildings creates a storybook feel.
Antwerp is the country's second-largest city, and its most diverse. While the city may feel a bit guarded at first, it soon reveals a rich artistic legacy, a stage for contemporary fashion, curious local delicacies, and no shortage of Belgium's notoriously strong beers. Sitting by the old city docks (first laid by Napoleon) we learned of Antwerp’s storied pasts, and in studios across the city, contemporary designers showed us how they’re pushing its present.
