We're very excited (obviously) to have King Kong on the shelf, but be warned, very very limited stock.

"King Kong is an independent, biannual print magazine dedicated to showcasing the work of ground-breaking artists, designers, models, musicians and image-makers from every corner of the world.

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley is an artist working predominantly across digital media to communicate the experiences of being a Black Trans person. Their practice is an embodied entanglement drifting in and out of game spaces, both physical and digital. Recording the lives of Black Trans people and imaginatively retelling trans stories. Danielle’s work can be seen as a praxis of archiving otherwise – archiving in abundance; where the materiality of the worlds Danielle creates are built with and from the people being archived. There is a beautifully powerful force in the gamification of Danielle’s work that blurs the line between virtual and physical space, forcing us to move at a different temporal rhythm and actively engage with every decision we make in the spaces we knowingly or unknowingly occupy.

Compare to be a game player, I prefer to be a game creator, using the game engine to create my own world, I sometimes walk outdoors and see the sky will think it’s the skybox inside game, all buildings and plants and other real world objects can be moved via arrows like in game engine, and I myself is one of the many randomly generated NPC simulation, game tools allow me to more macro view of the entire world, the entire universe.”

“People are more and more projecting their consciousness into the virtual world, switching digital bodies as they want, and along with the earth’s disasters and unrest in recent years, a new value system is surfacing.

Life and death is the ultimate game like the archetype. We win and we lose all the time to find that they both are equally important and meaningless. the game is just an illusion, we have already won”

The duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les who form the band 100 Gecs create visual promotional worlds which swing from the surreal to the hyperreal. Their layers of music, electronic programming, and flashes of dub step, pop punk and death metal, slash through musical definitions and boundaries.

In just a few months following the release of 1000 gecs, the band went from playing their first concert from inside the video game Minecraft to selling out shows across the country, proving that their rabid, rapidly multiplying fanbase doesn’t only exist in the far corners of the internet."
