"CWYR Zine is an independent publication providing a platform for LGBTQ+ creatives. We have recently published our first issue DE-VICES, which explores the relationships between art, digital technology, and queerness.
This issue features interview, poetry, and artwork to provide an exploration into the way that queer folx interact with, utilise, and resist digital technologies, through the medium of art.
DE-VICES For queer folx, the digital realm often embodies a space for experimentation and exploration. As devices, digital technologies can facilitate the construction of alternative queer imaginaries that exist beyond the oppressive binaries situated in the analogue world. These devices are therefore important tools in the creation of queer identity, community, and connection. Yet, these devices are not always so emancipatory. Digital spaces are populated by capitalist social media platforms, which can perpetuate heteronormativity through their patriarchal censorship and racist, sexist algorithms. Digital technology is therefore both a vice and a device: a (de-)vice."
