"13 tracks. 13 writers and 13 artists.
We’ve invited 13 writers and 13 visual artists or designers to respond to each of the 13 tracks of one of the 13tracks playlists, and these works have been brought together in Issue 1 of the 13tracks magazine.
In terms of the content, the writing and the art isn’t about the music directly - the contributions are poems, short stories, essays, photographs, paintings, collages, sculpture, anything inspired by the track in the context of the playlist.
What emotions, ideas, or images does the track evoke? Where does the music take the writers and artists? Where does it take you?
This is about how art inspires other art. The visuals and the writing are developed separately but presented alongside each other in the magazine, creating a multi-faceted relationship between the sound, word, and image throughout the playlist."
