Casa Brutus, coming in hot from Japan, direct to us, for you. It's the most beautiful interiors and architecture magazine ever. Very limited copies. In Japanese.

"In recent years, the keyword "modern" has been gaining popularity in Kyoto. The Imperial Hotel Kyoto, which inherits the exterior and memory of the Yasaka Kaikan, a modern building that is a nationally registered tangible cultural property and was completed in 1936 during the early Showa period, opened on March 5th. The interior design is by the New Material Research Laboratory, led by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and architect Tomoyuki Sakakida, who uphold the philosophy that "old materials are the newest." The Kyoto Modern Architecture Festival, which began in 2022 as a commemorative project for the relocation of the Agency for Cultural Affairs to Kyoto and specially opens up Kyoto's modern architecture to the public, is also a great success. Therefore, Casa Brutus's Kyoto special issue, the first in six years, is themed on "modern." We will explore modern Kyoto, which updates the memories of the ancient capital and the legacy of the modern era for the present day!"
